Date night, birthday party, college reunion? We’re all tired of going to the same old Indian restaurants for a regular ol’ buffet spread, aren’t we? It’s time to try something new! Surprise bae by taking him/her to one of these amazing Persian restaurants around town. We guarantee they won’t disappoint. More so since it’s exotic. And that always wins!

Ayda Persian Kitchen

Ayda is probably the most underrated Persian restaurant in Bangalore. With chairs and tables that mimic a typical Middle-Eastern living room {the kinds we see in movies} and gorgeous decor, we’re are a bit nuts over everything Ayda has to offer. The kebabs are succulent, and flavourful {and not ghastly coloured!} and all of them come with a roti or rice side. We strongly recommend the Zeresh Polo {or pulao, as we call it}. No one who has tasted it has had a complaint about it, and long may that last!

Alibaba Cafe & Restaurant

Alibaba serves both Persian and Bhatkali {a small coastal village in Karnataka} cuisine and is perfect for those random middle-eastern food cravings. All their meat offerings are heavenly, especially the different types of biryani. You must call in advance to get a table and food at this place.

Darband Restaurant

This quaint open air restaurant serves up some lip-smacking Persian food packed with flavour. Popular for their lamb kebabs and stroganoff varieties, everything at Darband is pretty authentic. Their curries are very different from our Indian curries, so we suggest you leave your spice tastebuds behind.

Persian Terrace

This luxury Persian Hotel at the Sheraton Grand Hotel is nothing short of spectacular. Apart from the view, they offer authentic food, impeccable service and even a separate kids area – they’ve got everything you need for a Persian fine dining experience. Hit them up for a wide variety of Middle Eastern Polo {pulao}, stews and soups. We also love the Khoresht Bamia, which is a lamb and okra stew with basmati rice. You’re bound to keep going back for more!

Ruh

Not a fully Persian joint but we’ve heard of {and tasted} their amazing Persian cuisine. While the service is not extremely quick, the food more than makes up for it. Their Mezzeh platter is full of everyone’s favourite Middle Eastern goodies like hummus, tabbouleh, pita bread, lavash chips and much more. The chefs recommendations are also listed on the menu so you can pick from those for an extremely satisfying Persian meal. They also have live Sufi music every Thursday!
