Give the sweet tooth a good pampering at The Cake Shop at The Leela Palace Bengaluru which will be serving all kinds of sugary goodies from Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake to boozy hot chocolate.

Sweet Treats

Goodbye muffins and brownies! The Cake Shop at The Leela Palace Bengaluru has a whole bunch of new ways to get your sugar high. The gourmet bakery has expanded their menu to include all kinds of drool-worthy desserts from origami cakes which feature origami folds to cherry-glazed chocolates. We started things off with a boozy hot chocolate, which is infused with either whiskey or cognac. A nice indulgence, pair it with the Callebaut caramel chocolates and you’re off to a good start.

From macarons in every colour, to cheesecakes, pastries and chocolates, the display case at The Cake Shop looked like it belonged in a children’s’ storybook. We really liked the Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake, which was an interesting combination of flavours that worked really well, and all the desserts that incorporated Callebaut caramels and toffees, the chocolate caramel pastry being our favourite. The cherry glazed chocolate was also a nice fruity component to the spread.

We even got to watch a quick demo of how the master pastry chef glazed their Marble Cakes in a mix of colourful glazes poured over a choux pastry. This resulted in a stunning cake topped with gooseberries, meringue, edible flowers and gold flakes, worthy of being an exhibit in an art museum.

Savour The Flavour

There are even a few savouries on offer to cut through all of that sweetness and stop you from having a full-blown sugar coma. We’re loving the deep-fried brie cheese with figs where the cheese was all melty and the caramelised fig was a nice tart touch. They even served us an Asparagus Tempura, with sweet and sticky rice, that made us see asparagus a little more positively (I was never the biggest fan of the vegetable). Plus, the Tomato And Mozzarella Quiche made for a cheesy bite, and we still dream about its warm and crumbly base.
