There is no Kalakshetra without Rukmini Devi Arundale. The Theosophist, dancer, and choreographer established the dance school along with her husband in 1936. Currently, the academy is a deemed university under the Kalakshetra Foundation and they still follow the Gurukul system here.
As part of the birth anniversary celebrations of the dancer, the school has organised Remembering Rukmini Devi, a music-dance festival, till March 1. Do not miss out on the Carnatic vocal concert by Abhishek Raghuram, along with HN Bhaskar on violin, Anantha R Krishnan on mridangam, and Shree Sundarkumar on kanjira. On 27th, there is a Shiva Sankalp performance by Dr. Sonal Mansingh. On 28th, there is Choodamani Pradanam and on March 1, there is Maha Pattabhishekam - both by Kalakshetra Foundation.
