Here's Why You Should Attend This Cool Tamil Lettering Workshop

Get ready to transform letters into a work of art? Hindustan Trading Company, Chennai’s favourite stationery paradise is organising a Tamil lettering workshop on the first Sunday of July and it’s one-of-a-kind!

Mridula Ganesan will be conducting this workshop next month in That Madras Place and it is time to get back to the basics. While we create everything online these days, who doesn’t love a hand-written piece of art? That’s exactly what this workshop will offer, that too in namma Chennai makkal‘s native tongue- Tamizh. Through this modern calligraphy class, each one of you can quickly get the hang of the basics and give letters a colourful touch. And all the art materials will be given to you!

Who Is It For?

All you have to be is over 13 years old! And if art, calligraphy and Tamil fascinate you, come here and create something amazing. You don’t have to be a trained artist, anyone can join really.

Why Should I Go For It ?

We are sure you come across lettering frames everywhere these days, for they are all the trend. But isn’t it awesome to make one of your own? That too if you have a keen interest towards the Tamizh language and script, then this workshop should definitely be on your list! And don’t worry if you do not know Tamizh, just brace yourselves to experiment with this style and they will get you through!

Though the workshop is  expensive (tickets come up to INR 1,800), we think it’s a fun way to spend the weekend – learning a new skill and creating art that you can gift someone or even frame it on the walls of your home. Plus, there is yummy food available! Yes. As the workshop is set for about two and half hours in That Madras Place, you could probably just dig in to their signature Shrimp Popcorn and yummy pastas for a nice Sunday brunch.

Also, we hear that Mridula Ganesan, is a baker too. So who knows? You might just walk away with some tips of how to inculcate pretty calligraphy onto cakes, cupcakes and more.  And these guys have done almost 15 workshops already! Now that we have all the deets, there is no way we’re missing it! And we’d recommend you give it a shot too and indulge in some joyful art. You can also always contact them regarding English lettering workshops as well.
