Let's admit it! We've all fancied a drive-in theatre where you can sit under a starry sky and watch your fave heroes in action! With the extra bonus of coastal breeze, Prarthana Beach Drive-in Theatre in ECR holds the ticket (quite literally) to that fantasy of yours. Get to the entrance by 7 pm because there's half an hour of waiting in the queue to buy tickets and then entering the place. Once you are in, you find yourself looking for a spot to park in front of the massive 4,500 sq. ft. screen. Each car has its own bay with elevated ramps which makes for a better viewing experience!
Prarthana drive-in theatre plays two shows a day (mostly Tamil films but there is an odd English blockbuster every once in a while) at 7:30 pm and 10:30 pm, so just make sure to reach a half-hour early to find a nice spot. You have the option of sitting inside your car and watching the movie or like most, take your blankets, portable chairs and snacks and lie down in front of the allocated space in front of your car. If you don’t fancy either, you can prop yourself in their 500-seater gallery too. The cinema is equipped with a powerful projector, DTS sound system and xenon lamp house, making for an excellent movie-going experience. You can even book your tickets online.
For families with little kids, Prarthana Beach Drive-in Theatre has a small park where they can run around and play in case you reach early. The adjoined restaurant inside the complex brings food to where you’re seated, and as it's multi-cuisine, you can order anything from burgers to Chinese! Get your pillows and picnic baskets out and get ready to chill!
